In the Treeeees Traveling through Western Oklahoma. Signs point to an antique shop along a lonely stretch of highway. You don't know why, but you need to look at what's inside that shop. As you peruse the isles, not seeing anything of interest, you begin browsing a stack of sepia-colored photographs. A family of pioneers standing in front of their log cabin. One looks strikingly like you. Now you know why you had to stop here. It IS you in the picture. All of the old photos are of you. Favorite track: Sun Is Elixir.

Beautiful new work by Mark Kuykendall of (Leaving the Tribe, Golden Pawn, Cecada, Triangle). It's an honor to get to put out some of his solo music that I've witnessed accumulate over the years. These 12 songs were recorded over a 3 year period on reel to reel, wire recorder, ipod... you name it. So much warmth here, and that lovely watercolor painting of his fits nicely with the lush synths and old time guitar taken from camping trips in the oldest mountain ranges in the United States - The Whichita Mountains of Oklahoma.

I first listened through this a couple years ago, and I don't know why I hadn't bought it until now. Regardless, I think everyone should listen through this in its entirety at least once, the best way I can describe it is beautifully haunting. I'm sure my favorite track will keep changing forever, too. sethgibbs
